The so-called “Special Rapporteur”, David Johnston, has unsurprisingly decided that no further investigation into Chinese election interference is required. The end result of Johnston not calling for a public inquiry is simple – Justin Trudeau gets away with another major scandal.

Canadians shouldn’t be surprised. Trudeau and Johnston are close family friends, ski buddies and frequent dinner companions. Johnston also “took the pain” of getting legal advice on his appointment by former Supreme Court justice Frank Iacobucci, who also happens to be a Trudeau foundation member, who cleared him of any conflict of interest. Johnston also appointed a long time Liberal donor to assist him in his investigation into election interference.

We can’t make this stuff up.

Not only does Johnston’s report not recommend a public inquiry, it doesn’t mention the Trudeau Foundation once, it dismisses months of media reporting on leaked classified documents and publicly shuns the CSIS whistleblower for working against the interests of the Canadian people.

When you expose the secrets of the Canadian establishment and show Canadians the truth about what is going on in the government, that is apparently working against the interests of the nation – in Johnston and Trudeau’s eyes anyway.
