FUREY: Houston Rockets GM in hot water after Pro-Hong Kong Tweet

Daryl Morey tweeted an image saying “fight for freedom, stand with hong kong” causing an uproar amongst the NBA and it’s Chinese supporters. He’s now found himself on an apology tour to make up for the grievous sin of standing up for democracy.

For all of the efforts that the sports world is putting into their “woke” and “progressive” appearance, it’s disappointing to see them fail to support a basic principle such as this.

True North’s Anthony Furey discusses this latest upset.

Green Party would bring tens of thousands of “climate refugees” to Canada

0

The nebulous term “climate refugees” has been officially endorsed by a political party in Canada this week as the leader of the Green Party believes Canada should open its borders to accept them.

Speaking on CTV’s Question Period, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May suggested that Canada should accept “tens of thousands” of climate refugees and “underpopulated” areas of Canada should be getting prepared to accept them.

“We have right now, depopulated areas across the country. We can build up infrastructure by 2030 and 2040 to accept far more people in regions, for instance in the Prairies, where there are depopulated places, in Atlantic Canada, and northern Quebec,” she said.

May made it clear that her party believes Canada should open itself up to an unspecified number of climate refugees, not only because they deserve refuge, but because Canada’s carbon emissions make us responsible for their plight.

“One of the points Greens make is we have to prepare,” May said.

“By geography, we’re one of the biggest countries in the world, by population one of the smaller. We have an obligation; we’ve been one of the biggest polluters.”

Canada’s total Carbon dioxide emissions are minuscule compared to the world total. In 2014, China’s carbon emissions were 19 times higher than Canada’s, and the United States’ was nearly ten times higher.

The term “climate refugees” was invented by activists to refer to someone who will be forced to leave their home because of the effects of climate change.

The term has no legal recognition, with the United Nations saying that climate refugees “[do] not exist in international law,” but that has not stopped climate-change extremists from predicting future mass-movements to Canada.

The government, the media, and open-borders advocates have all made references to the inevitability of climate refugees coming to Canada, despite no climate refugees actually existing.

May’s admission marks the first time a political party has endorsed accepting climate refugees.

True North founder Candice Malcolm pointed out key flaws in the Green’s climate refugee idea.

“The Green’s proposal to accept so-called climate refugees is bonkers. First, if bad weather makes you a refugee, Canada would be a refugee-producing country. Second, she wants Canada to build-up new cities from scratch, communist China style. What about mobility rights?” she said.

If the Green Party assists the Liberals in the event of a minority government, the Greens may use their position to get policies welcoming “climate refugees” enshrined into law.

The Hypocrisy of Justin Trudeau

Justin Trudeau is known to be a progressive feminist and an environmental champion. Isn’t that fresh?

This so-called “feminist” booted two strong female cabinet ministers for standing up to him. This “feminist” also groped a female reporter.

And now this “environmental champion” has been caught flying TWO chartered airplanes for the campaign – one for his staff and media, and another for additional cargo.

True North’s Leo Knight has more.

MALCOLM: Trudeau’s so-called carbon offsets bought from Liberal-friendly firm

0

Liberal hypocrisy knows no bounds. Not only are the Trudeau Liberals using two planes to criss-cross the country, they’re excusing their excessive carbon emissions by writing cheques to friends of Liberal insiders.

The latest example of the Liberals preaching one thing and doing the exact opposite came to the public’s attention on Wednesday evening when we learned that Justin Trudeau and the Liberal campaign are using not one, but two jets on the campaign trail.

One jet is for Trudeau’s costumes and his tour staff to set up the Liberal campaign events prior to the leader’s arrival, and the second jet is for Trudeau, his inner circle and the Liberal’s hand-selected media friends who are covering the tour.

Most campaigns get by with one plane — some only use a plane part time.

But not the Liberals. No, no. They’ve been splurging the cash given by Liberal donors to give Trudeau the rock star treatment.

The Liberal’s sad excuse for flying two planes — both likely half-empty — is that they purchase so-called carbon offsets to mitigate the damage to the environment.

Must be nice to be clear your conscience by writing a blank cheque using other people’s money.

The Liberal campaign refused to answer my basic questions about who they are buying these “carbon offsets” from and how much they are spending. After a little digging online, however, I learned that the Liberals are buying these credits from a firm called Less Emissions Inc.

According to its most recent audit posted online, the environmental benefits that come from purchasing these carbon offsets are cloudy at best.

The audit states that the carbon offsets Less purchases includes “the rights to the environmental benefits associated with the reduction of certain tonnes of CO2e” but the producers “have retained no claims or assertions of rights to such environmental benefits.”

In other words, they cannot definitively prove how much CO2 emissions are reduced through their offset credits.

They further emphasize this point on their website, stating: “we recognize that offsetting is an imperfect solution to the complex issue of climate change… [and] we stress that offsetting should be a last resort only.”

Is flying two jets on a campaign the only option for the Liberals? How about flying both jets from one Montreal airport to another — about 50 km away — as they did on Thursday morning?

What we can prove is that Liberal insiders have a chummy relationship with the firm that provides these get-out-of-jail-free offset cards.

Less Emissions Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bullfrog Power, whose co-founder Tom Heintzman appears to be personal friends with Trudeau’s top advisor Gerry Butts.

The two worked together at the World Wildlife Foundation and photos of the two together appear on the organization’s social media pages.

Trudeau has spent the last four years punishing hard-working Canadians with carbon taxes and by throwing up roadblocks to stop energy projects from going forward. He insists that he’s a man with a plan when it comes to saving the planet, while also ratcheting up fears and climate alarmism that the world will end without his drastic and economically-punishing measures.

Trudeau wants to intentionally increase the cost of living so that Canadians will drive less, buy less, fly less and do less of the things we love to do, while he continues to jet-set around the world — using two jets! — lecturing us about our carbon emissions.

FUREY: Trudeau takes two planes to lecture Canadians about carbon emissions

“Do as I say, not as I do.”

Justin Trudeau can’t seem to help himself with his blatant hypocrisy. This time he’s being criticized for traveling in two planes while simultaneously portraying himself as an environmental champion.

Liberals say that the second plane is used to transport equipment for campaign events, yet none of the other Leaders needed to burn that much jet fuel for their cause.

True North’s Anthony Furey dives into this story and more.

FUREY: It’s time to unleash Doug Ford on Trudeau

0

You could be forgiven if you thought Justin Trudeau was campaigning against Ontario Premier Doug Ford. After all, Trudeau constantly brings up Ford every chance he gets.

Ford has been quiet for the most part during the federal election due to unfavourable polls. Is it time for Ford to speak up?

In his latest column in the Toronto Sun, Anthony Furey argues that it’s time Ford dukes it out with Trudeau.
