Jordan Peterson says Fox News “killed itself” by firing Tucker Carlson

Renowned author and psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson delved into the controversial firing of Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson and other pressing topics in a recent interview published by the Hungarian Conservative this week.

According to Peterson, Fox News has ensured its own demise by letting its most popular host.

“Fox News killed itself by firing Tucker Carlson. So all these legacy news media and its apparatus is degenerating and as they degenerate, they turn to clickbait and lie,” said Peterson.

Peterson’s verbal barbs were not only levelled at the conservative media behemoth, but he also turned his sights on the legacy media in general, predicting the downfall of CNN and MSNBC.

“The CNN came out yesterday calling Tucker Carlson a right wing extremist. Jesus Christ! Whatever Tucker Carlson is he is not a right wing extremist! He is barely a Republican! His political views on many issues are left-wing! It is so preposterous,” explained Peterson.

“It is partly the consequence of the technologically induced demise of the legacy media. CNN is not going to make it, they will not be here in five years, neither will MSNBC.”

According to Peterson, the legacy media in the west needs a good villain and that includes Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orbán – whose government Peterson admires for its family policies.

“I guess you need a Trump in Europe and it might as well be Orbán. They tried it hard with Italy’s new president, too, but she is so popular in Europe that it is been hard to make that story stick. But Orbán makes a pretty good villain, so it is a good villainy name. It is enough for the dim-witted leftists who run most newspapers,” said Peterson.

“My impression of your family policy is that if people understood it internationally, it would be very popular with most people.”

Hungary has introduced a series of pro-family measures including income tax exemptions for young mothers, enshrining the status of mothers and fathers in the constitution and spending 5.5% of its GDP on family support programs.

Data points to these policies reverse some of Hungary’s trends when it comes to its fertility rate and population growth. In 2021, the country’s fertility rate saw a 30% increase and a doubling of the number of marriages when compared to a decade ago.

Peterson also delved into his own plights in Canada, which include an investigation by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

“In Canada for example the crediting boards among psychologists are doing what they can to make it impossible for university programmes that don’t teach social justice agenda to produce clinical psychologists,” said Peterson.

“You can’t teach social justice agenda and become clinical psychologists, because psychology is not, in its essence, a political endeavour. It is an individual to individual endeavour. As soon as it becomes political, it just dies. We have seen that happen everywhere.”

Former PMs Harper, Campbell back letter calling on Trudeau, Biden to act against Iranian regime

Former Canadian prime ministers Stephen Harper and Kim Campbell are among more than 100 world leaders who’ve signed a letter calling for democratic reform in Iran and efforts to hold “regime officials accountable.”

The letter, sent to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, US President Joe Biden, and European Council President Charles Michel, was signed by 109 former heads of government and state, including former British prime minister Liz Truss and former American vice-president Mike Pence.

“We believe it is time to hold the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to account for its crimes,” the letter says.

“We encourage you to stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their desire for a secular and democratic republic where no individual, regardless of religion or birthright, has any privilege over others. Through their slogans, the Iranian people have made it clear that they reject all forms of dictatorship, be it that of the deposed Shah or the current theocratic regime, and thus reject any association with either.”

The open letter backs a 10-point plan promoted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran and its president, Maryam Rajavi. The plan calls for free elections, freedom of expression, gender equality, secularization, and a non-nuclear Iran.

The letter also asks world leaders to “take decisive steps against the current regime.”

“This includes blacklisting the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and holding regime officials accountable for their crimes against humanity.”

The IRGC is a designated terrorist group in the United States, but the Trudeau government has resisted calls to classify it as such in Canada.

The IRGC, created by Ayatollah Khomenei after Iran’s 1979 revolution, has orchestrated numerous terror attacks around the world and offers support to terror organizations, including Hamas and Hezbollah.

Trudeau has rejected calls to designate the IRGC as a terror group but has placed sanctions on some of its leaders as recently as last October.

Harper’s government listed the IRGC’s Quds force as a terror group in 2012.

The letter references recent crackdowns by the Iranian regime on pro-democracy protesters. Some reports indicate as many as 750 protesters have been killed and 30,000 arrested since September.

The letter makes clear that it’s the Iranian people who are seeking reform first and foremost.

“While any change should come from the people of Iran, the international community has a responsibility to support their human rights,” it says.

Since leaving office in 2015, Harper has frequently spoken out against the Iranian regime, explicitly calling for regime change in 2020.

Durham children’s aid society holds multi-week drag queen shows for kids

An Ontario children’s aid society is organizing a multi-week drag queen story time for “all children and their caregivers” as part of a Youth Pride program.

Nearly half a dozen libraries have partnered with the Durham Children’s Aid Society to put on drag queen performances for kids, including Oshawa Public Libraries, Whitby Public Library, Pickering Public library, Brock Libraries and elsewhere.

“This family-friendly program will showcase stories celebrating diversity and inclusion,” wrote the Durham Children’s Aid Society.

“Children of all ages and their caregivers are welcome.”

Events are taking place at various venues from May 27th until June 10th. A total of eight drag queen performances for kids will occur, although performers have yet to be announced.

The children’s aid society offers various services for children at risk and also oversees adoptions, foster care and infant care.

Controversial drag queen events for children in Ontario have sparked dueling protests. Groups opposed to the event claim that they are inappropriate for young kids and that they confuse children about their natural development.

Ontario NDP MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam has recently introduced a bill to ban protests within 100 meters of venues where drag queens read to children.

“The topic that brings us here is deadly serious,” said Wong-Tam.

“The rise of hate and violence facing the 2SLGBTQI-plus communities, including the drag artists, happening across Ontario and right (across) the nation has been alarming.”

Wong Tam’s bill, which received international attention, would allow Ontario’s attorney general to designate any area a safety zone which would prohibit protests from happening within the designated area.

Anybody found violating the law would receive a $25,000 fine.

UN admits that trans activism threatens women’s rights

Stifled free expression in first-world countries is now a human rights matter for the United Nations.

A UN human rights office is concerned that citizens in the “Global North” (e.g. Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand) have a “shrinking space” for debate on issues of gender and gender identity.

“I am concerned by the shrinking space in several countries in the Global North for women and feminist organizations and their allies to gather and/or express themselves peacefully in demanding respect for their needs based on their sex and/or sexual orientation,” wrote Reem Alsalem, the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls.

The issue of biological males identifying as women to compete in women’s sports and access female-only spaces like pool changing rooms and women’s prisons are contested topics in the Western world.

Alsalem states she is “disturbed” that trans activists smear women’s rights advocates as “Nazis” or “extremists,” which she sees as “a means of attack and intimidation with the purpose of deterring women from speaking and expressing their views.”

According to Alsalem, women who oppose the idea that transwomen are women experience “censorship, legal harassment, employment loss, loss of income, removal from social media platforms, speaking engagements, and the refusal to publish research conclusions and articles.”

She continued, “In some cases, women politicians are sanctioned by their political parties, including through the threat of dismissal or actual dismissal.”

Recently, in Sheffield, England, Green Party candidate Alison Teal was suspended for criticizing self-ID policies that allow men to identify as women to access female-only spaces.

Earlier this year, women’s rights campaigner Kelly Jay Keen-Minshull, also known as Posie Parker, had tomato juice thrown on her by an “anti-fascist” during her “Let Women Speak” tour stop in Auckland.

Closer to home, British author Joanna Williams was supposed to deliver a presentation this month titled “Sex, Gender, and the Limits of Free Speech on Campus” at the London, Ontario public library for an academic freedom group. However, the public library cancelled her speaking engagement due to potential violation of the library harassment policy and other unspecified risks.

City of Toronto reverses decision to cancel Canada Day celebration after backlash

The City of Toronto is reversing its decision to cancel the city’s popular Canada Day celebration after receiving enormous backlash from residents.

A number of Torontonians let their voices be heard on social media after news broke that the Canada Day fireworks display at Nathan Phillips Square was going to be cancelled this year due to a lack of funding.

A City of Toronto volunteer shared an email they had received from the city on Twitter, which outlined the rationale for cancelling Canada Day programming. The volunteers were told that the funds secured for the event at Nathan Phillips Square were inadequate and that the fiscal constraints requires a “very conservative approach to planning.”

Mayoral candidate and former police chief Mark Saunders took to social media to decry the cancellation of Toronto’s Canada Day celebration.

Saunders proclaimed that under his watch, he would uncancel Canada Day and continue the festivities at Nathan Phillips Square.

In a press release titled, “Mark Saunders Won’t Let City Hall Be the Grinch Who Stole Canada Day,” Saunders expressed his disappointment as the son of Jamaican immigrants that Toronto’s Canada Day celebrations would be cancelled.

“As the son of Jamaican immigrants, Canada Day holds special meaning to me, my family, and many other Canadians who came here for a better life,” said Saunders.

“We are so fortunate to call such a peaceful, beautiful, and diverse country home – and that’s worth celebrating!”

Toronto’s deputy mayor Jennifer McKelvie took action to restore the Canada Day festivities at Nathan Phillips Square, instructing the city manager to take action to restore the celebration.

Toronto isn’t the only big Canadian city to cancel its Canada Day festivities. The City of Calgary recently cancelled their Canada Day firework display, citing climate and racial impacts.

Thousands of Calgarians, including Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner, called for the city to reverse its decision. The city folded on Thursday and reinstated its firework show.

Ratio’d | The least surprising thing just happened

The so-called “Special Rapporteur”, David Johnston, has unsurprisingly decided that no further investigation into Chinese election interference is required. The end result of Johnston not calling for a public inquiry is simple – Justin Trudeau gets away with another major scandal.

Canadians shouldn’t be surprised. Trudeau and Johnston are close family friends, ski buddies and frequent dinner companions. Johnston also “took the pain” of getting legal advice on his appointment by former Supreme Court justice Frank Iacobucci, who also happens to be a Trudeau foundation member, who cleared him of any conflict of interest. Johnston also appointed a long time Liberal donor to assist him in his investigation into election interference.

We can’t make this stuff up.

Not only does Johnston’s report not recommend a public inquiry, it doesn’t mention the Trudeau Foundation once, it dismisses months of media reporting on leaked classified documents and publicly shuns the CSIS whistleblower for working against the interests of the Canadian people.

When you expose the secrets of the Canadian establishment and show Canadians the truth about what is going on in the government, that is apparently working against the interests of the nation – in Johnston and Trudeau’s eyes anyway.

City of Calgary folds, reinstates firework show following outrage

The City of Calgary is reinstating its Canada Day fireworks display after widespread outrage over its decision to axe the show over apparent racist and climate impacts.

The backlash included a letter from Calgary Nose Hill MP Michelle Rempel Garner and a petition launched by Common Sense Calgary.

“We have heard from many Calgarians as well as members of City Council that while the pilot program is valued, they would also appreciate an aerial fireworks display to celebrate on July 1,” said Calgary City Manager David Duckworth.

“We are working with partners to confirm an appropriate site and will share details as they become available.”

The cancellation was pitched as a pilot to address cultural, community, and environmental issues experienced with traditional Canada Day fireworks, city staff said.

The city also said there are cultural sensitivities around fireworks displays in relation to Truth and Reconciliation and with July 1 marking the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Immigration Act.

A petition launched by Common Sense Calgary over the weekend calling for the fireworks to be reinstated has garnered almost 12,500 signatures.

In response to the petition, Calgary city councillor Kourtney Penner said having a fireworks show on Canada Day would be “upholding colonialism and racism.”

“This isn’t nonsense,” she wrote on Twitter. “It’s being actively anti-racist, working at truth and reconciliation, and being responsive to the diverse community Calgary is.”

“Nonsense is ignoring that Canada Day can be more than what you think you’re entitled to.”

Rempel Garner said Calgarians can still celebrate Canada while acknowledging and addressing “reconciliation and the longstanding impacts of colonialism and racism.”

“When our leaders make this choice a binary one, that as a people we can only do one at the expense of the other, we further divide our country instead of solving its problems. Suggesting that Canada Day shouldn’t be a day for any celebration does just that, and I won’t allow my community to be pushed into that corner,” she said in a statement.

At a UCP campaign announcement on Thursday morning, candidate Rebecca Schulz says she’s been hearing at the door while campaigning that Albertans like the opportunity to come together and celebrate Canada Day.

With the fireworks show back on, Calgary says it “remains committed to considering cultural sensitivities while respecting the diverse make-up of Calgary.”

“These and other considerations, such as concerns about late-night traffic, noise, over-crowding, wildlife, and the environment will be factored into the decision on a final location for the aerial fireworks display.”

The city will also offer diverse, educational and inclusive programming. Plans to feature an enhanced pyrotechnic show at Fort Calgary will move forward, including a display of lights and sounds that will be launched from the main stage at Fort Calgary during the headliner act.

“Programming will be a mix of participatory, celebratory, and reflective experiences,” said Jeff Chase, Director of Partnerships with the city. “Calgarians will have a variety of options to observe July 1 in a way most meaningful to them.”

Liberal MP called out over false claim that Poilievre would fail a security clearance

Liberal MP Ryan Turnbull has been called out on social media and was even hit with a Twitter community note addressing his false claim that Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre would fail a security clearance due to a “red flag in his background.”

Turnbull made the unsubstantiated claim on Thursday in response to Poilievre’s refusal to be involved in classified briefings on Chinese interference.

“Why won’t ⁦Poilievre⁩ get security clearance? Either he prefers to remain ignorant of the facts so he can continue to mislead, or he has a red flag in his background which would have him fail to gain clearance causing him embarrassment,” speculated Turnbull.

Shortly after receiving a flood of replies arguing that Poilievre has already undergone a security clearance as a former cabinet minister under the Stephen Harper government, the tweet was hit with a community note by Twitter.

“Pierre Poilievre, leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition in Canada, has already undergone a series of background checks as a former Cabinet Minister in Harper’s government. He was also sworn into King’s Privy Council for Canada as a member,” wrote the note, which linked to the Government of Canada website.

Conservative MP Andrew Scheer accused the Liberals of spreading “sleazy misinformation” in response to the tweet.

“Sleazy misinformation from the Liberals! Turnbull may not know, never having been in cabinet, but all Ministers obtain security clearances and are vetted. As a former Minister, Pierre went through all that and was cleared. No more conspiracy theories. Call a public inquiry now,” tweeted Scheer.

Poilievre has refused to comply with the federal government to get secret briefings on the issue of foreign interference and has instead opted to call for a public inquiry into the matter.

Earlier this week, former governor general David Johnston shut down prospects of a public inquiry in his report as a special rapporteur appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the issue.

In response, Poilievre accused Trudeau of “appointing a family friend” to clear his government of wrongdoing and called for a full public inquiry.
