Trudeau won't say whether he'll let the judge overseeing the inquiry have access to cabinet documents, raising questions about how fulsome the inquiry can be when it comes to the government's conduct and evidence for declaring a national "emergency."

The Trudeau government is refusing to reveal what information it used to justify invoking the Emergencies Act to crack down on peaceful Freedom Convoy protests in Ottawa in February.

A senator appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said there was a movement underway – including Liberals – to bring an end to the Trudeau government’s implementation of the Emergencies Act in February, and that the government was aware of that movement on the day it pulled the plug.

With Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revoking the Emergencies Act two days after he insisted on keeping it, some politicians are asking what exactly was going on in his head and behind the scenes.

“The situation is no longer an emergency. Therefore, the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act,” said Trudeau. 

Some protesters from the freedom convoy movement are taking the Trudeau government to court to demand it to release the documents justifying the implementation of the Emergencies Act.
