FUREY: Justin Trudeau’s crazy talk at COP26

While at the United Nation’s COP26 climate conference, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made some extreme pledges that Canadians should be wary about.

Two of the crazier measures Trudeau committed to were a global carbon tax and a pledge to cap oil and gas emissions in Canada.

Anthony Furey says Canadians need to be aware of some of the crazy promises being made at COP26.

Feds say Canadian flag will return to full mast after Remembrance Day

The Canadian flag will finally return to full mast after Remembrance Day on Nov. 11, according to Minister of Crown–Indigenous Relations Canada Marc Miller and Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez.

After originally refusing to raise the flag, the Trudeau government says the flag will be raised on all government buildings at sunset on Nov. 7, and then lowered again at sunrise the next day to mark Indigenous Veterans Day. They will then be raised again before being lowered on Nov. 11. The flag will then be returned to full mast following the Remembrance Day ceremony.

The flag has been at half-mast since May 30th, marking the longest period in Canadian history that the flag has been lowered.

The flag was lowered in response to the announcement of unmarked graves at a former residential school near Kamloops, BC.

In response to the government’s decision, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole said, “symbolic acts are not a substitute for concrete action on reconciliation.”

“As the flag is raised, I call on all Canadians to rededicate ourselves to our collective effort towards reconciliation and remembrance,” O’Toole said.

The government says the flag will be half-masted on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation every September 30.

On Canada’s first-ever National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was invited to attend a ceremony in Kamloops, BC by Tk’emlúps Nation Chief Rosanne Casimir. Instead of attending, Trudeau opted to vacation in Tofino, BC.

Trudeau was invited by Casimir on two occasions to visit the community, which is only hours away from where he was vacationing with his family.

Trudeau eventually visited the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc Nation weeks after and apologized for his ill-advised trip.

BC museum closes floor on Canadian history to “decolonize” exhibit

The Royal BC Museum will be closing an entire floor of exhibits dedicated to the early settlers of Canada.

According to the museum’s acting CEO Daniel Muzyka, the exhibits on European settlers, the early logging and fishery industry will all disappear.

“This is necessary to begin the long-term work of creating new narratives that include under-represented voices and reflect the lived experiences and contemporary stories of the people in B.C,” said Muzyka.

“We will decant the collection and we will do it carefully and openly and inclusively. We will listen. We want to tell the stories from the lived experience.”

Museum management hopes to replace the exhibit with one that represents a more accurate version of history in consultation with First Nations, Metis people, the South Asian community and Chinese community.

Additional changes will also be made to the museum’s First Peoples gallery which has been labelled as an “offensive and inadequate representation of Indigenous history.”

BC Liberal MLA Ellis Ross called the move “crazy” on Twitter.

“This is crazy. The ‘settler’ impact is what my elders talked about in terms of canneries and Forts where Aboriginals would travel to for trade and work,” tweeted Ross.

“Of course there were bad stories, but there were good stories too. Add to the history, don’t erase it.”

According to Muzyka, however, “decolonization” of the museum is long overdue.

“Decolonization of the museum’s galleries is important and long overdue,” said Muzyka in a press release

“As part of our work to implement modernized museum practices, in particular our efforts around decolonization, we will be closing the third-floor so we can decant our galleries. This is necessary to begin the long-term work of creating new narratives that include under-represented voices and reflect the lived experiences and contemporary stories of the people in BC.”

Dozens of Conservative MPs form caucus to defend rights of unvaccinated Canadians

Up to 30 Conservative MPs have banded together to form the “Civil Liberties Caucus” to speak up for unvaccinated Canadians who are losing their jobs.

According to MP Marilyn Gladu, the caucus was organized in October after the party had its first caucus meeting since the election.

Conservative MPs were concerned about constituents who have lost their jobs after refusing to get a COVID-19 shot for various reasons.

To date, the caucus has met virtually over Zoom on four occasions to highlight this issue and urge Canadian employers to find accommodations for their workers who won’t or can’t be vaccinated.

According to Gladu, Conservative Party Leader Erin O’Toole was not informed about the group as it remains informal.

“I would really encourage every MP to listen to constituents in their ridings, because across the country, people are concerned about these things,” said Gladu.

“Our job as MPs is to raise the issues that our constituents are bringing, and ask the important questions and get the experts in on it, and set a path to take action to make sure that people’s rights and freedoms are protected. And that’s why we’re sort of looking at the name of civil liberties. I mean, it’s basically these are the areas where we feel people’s [rights] are being encroached.”

Gladu acknowledged that joining the group could impact other MPs from being appointed a critic position within the party.

“That is possible, and people will have to choose what their priorities are,” said Gladu.

“No, I don’t think that this is very controversial. Honestly, these are issues that are being raised by our constituents, and we were put here to basically represent their needs and make sure that those issues are raised in government, and that’s what we’re doing.”

While the Conservatives originally came out in opposition to the House of Common’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole flip-flopped on the issue.

Last month, O’Toole stated that his caucus would abide by a recent order requiring all parliamentarians in the House of Commons to be vaccinated. O’Toole stated that he will challenge the matter by raising a point of privilege at the soonest opportunity.

The media joins in on the COP26 party to fear monger about climate change

It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show!

This week, as thousands of people gather in Glasgow for COP26 and use over-the-top doomsday alarmism over climate change, the legacy media in Canada joined in on the party and promoted fear and anxiety.

In fact, the CBC says climate change “will define every aspect of our lives” and continued to publish the world’s stupidest opinion columns.

Plus, Candice debunks the latest end-of-the-world climate change predictions and discusses examples of previous projections that were very wrong. These stories and more on The Candice Malcolm Show.

“I’ve had some patients crying in my office”: Unvaccinated surgeon facing termination

A Stratford, Ontario surgeon, who has decided to be unvaccinated for personal health reasons, has been suspended without pay by Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance and could soon lose her job.

In an interview with True North, Dr. Alanna Fitzpatrick recounted how some of her patients cried in her office when she had to break the news to them that she was no longer allowed to treat them.

“I told my institution that I am not resigning, I don’t want any patients to feel like I am abandoning them. I want them to know that I am ready, willing and able to work anytime that the hospital would have me back,” Dr. Fitzpatrick said.

“There’s been a lot of worry and concern from patients. I’ve had some patients crying in my office when I had to disclose to them that I would no longer be allowed to continue their care. There’s been a lot of concern over wait times and a lot of concern over having to travel for care now.”

Dr. Fitzpatrick, who is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon by training, services four hospitals in the region, two of which are from rural communities. Being one of only two doctors able to perform certain procedures in the area, some patients will now have to travel up to two hours away to the GTA so they can be seen by a medical professional.

“There were a number of procedures where I was the only surgeon in my hospital performing them so all of those patients are redirected to London and there’s actually a specific procedure that I’m redirecting to the GTA because no one in this region is accepting consults for it,” Dr. Fitzpatrick told True North.

According to Dr. Fitzpatrick, once the COVID-19 pandemic began, she decided to stop performing cosmetic procedures and to focus on OHIP care in order to not strain her hospital’s resources any further.

While Ontario Premier Doug Ford recently announced that healthcare workers will not be mandated to be vaccinated by the provincial government, some hospitals have taken the matter into their own hands and instituted their own mandatory vaccination policies.

“I think that’s really wonderful news. I applaud Premier Ford for that decision but unfortunately, I don’t think it’s enough at this time. Unfortunately, the hospitals have been given the ability to have the vaccine or a rapid swab policy, or they’ve also been given the ability to have a vaccine only policy,” said Dr. Fitzpatrick.

“I think it’s time for the Ford government to step up their leadership on this and tell hospitals this is inappropriate given the emerging data we have and the potentially serious consequences for the healthcare system.”

According to Dr. Fitzpatrick, some of the consequences include nursing shortages for smaller communities, emergency room closures and growing burnout or turnover rates among existing staff who have to pick up the workload of those terminated.

The Ontario surgeon believes healthcare workers should have the option to pursue safe alternatives to the vaccine such as rapid testing, and that firing healthcare workers based on their vaccination status is “reckless.”

“Yes I am more than happy to comply with any policy from my hospital to improve patient safety other than be vaccinated,” Dr. Fitzpatrick told True North.

“I think there’s a perception out there that the question has been asked and answered in the scientific literature as to whether vaccine-only policies vs vaccine or testing policies is superior and that is a big misconception. That has not been studied specifically in the literature at all. Right now, it is a hypothesis of many people that vaccine-only would be stronger protection. My hypothesis would be that rapid swab testing is actually preferable because as we know even vaccinated individuals can carry and transmit COVID-19.”

Indigenous Canadians and minorities more likely to refuse COVID-19 vaccine: poll

Indigenous Canadians and minorities were more likely to refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19, a new Angus Reid poll reveals.

According to the survey, 13% of Indigenous Canadians said that they have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and do not plan to receive their shot. The rate was more than twice as much as the 6% of white Canadians who reported the same.

Meanwhile, 8% of Canadians who identified as visible minorities also said they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

“Indigenous Canadians are twice as likely as those who don’t identify as visible minorities to have refused to get vaccinated,” pollsters wrote.

With regard to why Canadians are choosing to remain unvaccinated, many cite ongoing health concerns and personal freedom as priorities.

“Data here suggests there remains a lack of confidence in the safety of the vaccine with three in five, 58%, saying they have ongoing health concerns when it comes to vaccination,” wrote researchers.

“An equal number say one of the main reasons they are not vaccinated is a question of personal freedom. To the extent this is a prioritization of personal freedom over a sense of collective responsibility, or reaction to perceived government over-reach, is unclear.”

The findings by Angus Reid seem to corroborate government data on vaccination rates. Statistics Canada data shows that Indigenous and black Canadians were the least likely to take a COVID-19 vaccine.

“Certain sub-groups in Canada are more likely to report COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy. These include black Canadians, Indigenous peoples, newcomers, and younger adults, among others,” wrote Statistics Canada.

Despite these statistics, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau omitted to mention the impacts on First Nations and black Canadians when announcing his federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The spectacle of COP26 continues

The COP26 climate conference continues as politicians, bureaucrats and members of the legacy media continue to schmooze and booze all in the name of fighting climate change.  Meanwhile, attendees of the conference continue to use fossil fuels and emit CO2, while drafting policies that will hurt hard-working citizens and do nothing about climate change.

It turns out Canada sent the largest delegation to COP26 out of all G7 nations – including the host of the conference, the UK. The Trudeau government sent close to 300 people to attend the conference at taxpayers’ expense.

Candice Malcolm asks, how can anyone take these climate hypocrites seriously?

LEVY: The oppressed have become the oppressors at the TDSB

In an over-the-top letter sent to Toronto District School Board (TDSB) teachers on Nov. 3, the board’s new education director describes a blackface Halloween costume worn by a high school teacher last Friday as an “egregious incident of anti-black racism.”

The letter from Colleen Russell Rawlins, a woke activist and Black Lives Matter supporter, claims the act is a “grim reminder” of “how much racism and oppression” still needs to be defeated in the TDSB.

“This disrespectful and highly offensive act brought pain and harm,” she writes in the letter obtained by True North, calling what occurred a “dehumanizing incident of anti-black racism.”

The incident to which Russell Rawlins refers involved a high school teacher who sported blackface at Parkdale Collegiate last Friday. The costume, apparently in honour of Halloween, caused an uproar at the school and was reported by students on social media. The teacher is on home assignment, while an investigation is carried out.

The legacy media, up in arms about the incident, ignored the three separate photos of Prime Minister Trudeau in blackface – the most recent when he attended an Arabian Nights costume party in 2001.

There was no mention of the hurtful actions of our prime minister in Russell-Rawlins’ letter either.

The new education director, who was said to hire anti-oppression activists to preach the “anti-black racism” gospel, while at the Peel District School Board, apologized to students, families and staff impacted by the blackface incident.

She chastised the teachers/adults at the school who did not report the incident, indicating that many staff have already integrated the “anti-racism” learning taught at the start of the school year into their daily practice.

“(These staff) work diligently to disrupt and dismantle oppression and discrimination and the ignorance and malice that underpin them,” she wrote.

“As members of the TDSB community, we all have responsibility to interrupt and confront racism, discrimination and hate when we see or hear it.”

Russell-Rawlins repeats the words, “anti-black racism” three times and “racism/anti-racism” seven times in her letter.

By contrast, when Desmond Cole caused a furor among Jewish teachers and insulted the entire Toronto Jewish community during four learning sessions in September, Russell-Rawlins did not address his ignorant and uninformed anti-Semitic comments in the slightest.

He was paid $16,000 for four sessions which were supposed to be about “anti-black racism.”

Cole quickly went off script during the first session on Sept. 20 spewing hateful tropes related to the “illegal occupation of Palestine and the theft of land” by Israel.

He also berated and rudely interrupted those in attendance who questioned his diatribe.

Still, he was permitted to continue with three more sessions – two on Sept. 23 – after which Russell-Rawlins issued a weak apology to the superintendents interrupted by Cole.

“It is clear that we should have done a better job providing space for staff to unpack these complex conversations and I want to apologize for the harm that may have caused,” she said.

Her letter contained none of the stridency shown with respect to the Parkdale incident. But this should come as no surprise to those having to deal with the mess Russell-Rawlins left at the Peel District School Board, where she acted as interim director for a year before coming to the TDSB in August.

Sources say she brought in activists like Kike Ojo-Thompson to preach the “anti-black racism” gospel and issued a 12-page letter commanding Peel staff to report, disrupt, communicate and, investigate any discriminatory slur or statement, verbal, written, including online or on social media.

In her March 10 memo, Russell-Rawlins gives a detailed laundry list of how slurs should be reported and indicates in bold that “reprisal (for reporting a slur) will not be tolerated.”

As examples, she refers first to the use of the N-word or any slurs that “negatively impact” the black, African and Caribbean communities including inappropriate comments about “enslavement.”

She also highlights discriminatory statements made about the South Asian communities such as references to “terrorism” or minimizing the “cultural genocide committed in Canada” against the Indigenous.

I feel sorry for teachers and students who have to operate in an atmosphere that places perceived oppression and “anti-black racism” above learning, that rewards snitches above talented teachers and has placed a target on the backs of white staff and students.

I fear the oppressed have become the oppressors, academic standards are being dumbed down to the lowest common denominator and teachers who just want to inspire a love of learning in their students are in for a rocky time unless they sign on to the Cult of Woke.

Tweets denying Canada committed genocide cited by BC Liberals in Aaron Gunn disqualification

The BC Liberal Party cited a number of tweets by Conservative commentator Aaron Gunn where he argued that Canada had not committed genocide against Indigenous people before disqualifying him from running for the party’s leadership.

According to an October 7, 2021 email shown to True North from a BC Liberal Party executive, the party took issue with some of Gunn’s statements on his personal social media account.

“As will no doubt be obvious to you, the Party will require some time to complete the requisite due diligence in respect of your Application,” wrote the BC Liberals.

“As a preliminary matter, the following posts on your social media have been brought to my attention.”

Four tweets in particular were cited by the BC Liberals and Gunn was given seven days to respond.

In an exclusive op-ed published by True North, Gunn addressed the disqualification as “shocking” and maintained that his statements did not fall outside of legitimate debate.

In one of the tweets dated to June 4, 2019, Gunn accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of “sensationalizing truly horrific events” and that the word genocide “doesn’t remotely reflect the reality” of Canada’s history.

In another tweet from October 22, 2020, Gunn states that “there was no genocide.”

According to the email sent to Gunn, the BC Liberals claimed that Gunn’s comments could “bring the Party into disrepute.”

“I have taken the opportunity to discuss this matter with the Co-Chairs of the Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) and they are of the view that the noted comments could bring the Party into disrepute, particularly given the Party’s interest in resolutely supporting reconciliation with First Nations,” wrote the BC Liberals.

Two other tweets by Gunn were also included as examples.

Gunn was disqualified by the party on October 22, 2021. In an official statement on the matter, the BC Liberals stated that Gunn’s candidacy “would be inconsistent with the BC Liberal Party’s commitment to reconciliation, diversity and acceptance of all British Columbians.”

True North reached out to the BC Liberals for comment on the tweets and was told that there were other past statements made by Gunn which the party took issue with that were not included in the email cited in this article. Examples of other tweets or statements which were considered when denying Gunn his candidacy were not provided by the BC Liberals.

“We do not have much to add other than to say that the four tweets you have included for reference do not reflect the totality of the statements that the Leadership Election Organizing Committee had concerns with in regard to Mr. Gunn’s application,” BC Liberals Director of Communications David Wasyluk told True North.

In response to the allegations, Gunn stated that it was a sign that conservatives and those who value free speech were no longer welcome in the party. Prior to his disqualification, the only Indigenous candidate in the race for the leadership, BC Liberal MLA Ellis Ross, encouraged the party to accept Gunn’s candidacy.
